The inadvertent expat blogger behind Broad Shore Axis

Hello, I am Ana
A project manager and parent, currently an expat residing in Lisbon, Portugal.
A few years ago I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary contract gradually opened a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Portugal wasn't in the grand plan. As with many international relocations, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The early months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, and higher expectations. Daily tasks seemed more daunting than expected.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning through action. Over time, routines settled in. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt steady.
Why I Built Broad Shore Axis
Most online information was either corporate relocation guidance or superficial tourism content. What was lacking was a candid, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical advice drawn from real life in Portugal.
What This Site Does (And Does Not)
This site is:
- Practical insights from living in Portugal
- Centered on family life and everyday realities
- Updated whenever there is a real change
This site is not:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a sponsored review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Looking Forward
Our time in Portugal continues, and the learning journey goes on. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Lisbon or anywhere in Portugal, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Ana
